Creamy, sweet, and tangy Vietnamese sữa đá chanh. The name in Vietnamese tells you everything you need to know about what goes into the drink except how refreshing it is! (sữa - condensed milk, đá - ice and chanh - lime) This lemonade only calls for 3 ingredients and is easily made with crushed ice or a blender!

Beat the heat with these drinks: mango slush, lychee boba tea, refreshing soy milk

    Vietnamese lemonde, sữa đá chanh.

This recipe is a homage to my childhood. This is the first drink I learned to make when I was around 5 years old. I remember being small and my mom just gave me the ok to make this drink. I had just learned how to cut limes and was ready to smash the ice with my wooden pestle. I got the ice out of the ice maker, put it in a ziplock bag, and hammered away at the ice until they were teeny tiny. Put the ice into a cup, drizzle so much condensed milk over it, and then squeeze limes all over it. Thinking about it makes my lips pucker!

These days if you have a refrigerator that has the crushed ice option, the hard part is already done for you. If you want to utilize a blender and turn the ice cubes into a snowcone, you now have a Vietnamese milk lemonade in a snowcone form, chanh tuyết. Recently all over my newsfeed, Brazilian lemonade has been super popular and viral online and it makes me think of sữa đá chanh. Vietnamese sữa đá chanh is the culinary sister of Brazilian lemonade. Although they both contain the same ingredients they are not twins.
